Well, there are some artists/writers out there who are microwaves--an idea hops into their head and hours, days, or a week later, it's been made. Me? Heh, I'm a crock pot. As the list below will show, things usually simmer for years, if not a decade (though there have been a few delightful exceptions).
Crock pots and microwaves aside, I've long used the imagery of my various tales being like pots cooking on a rather large stovetop. Those in the back don't have many ingredients yet; they're watery and have a long ways to go before completion. Those in the front only lack a few things, or just need thickening up before they're ready to be set down on paper and served to any interested hungry parties.
I decided to make a list of what I'm aware of that's simmering away on my stovetop. There are some things missing:
* Tales that are little more than a kernel of what I want to write, but otherwise stalled.
* Tales I have currently chosen not to write (due to extremely disturbing content).
* Novel-length works--the Triune prequels, a stand-alone novel, and my sequels to the five Geren books are simmering away, but not listed here
This list is the mostly long-standing stuff that I do want to have on paper some day...year...decade.
Please feel free to make remarks, ask questions, or pout about the absence of something you'd hoped to see. You certainly can't do any damage, and who knows--such could help get a new pot started bubbling, or nudge a current one closer to completion.
Per the usual:
'Humanocentric' stories are in blue
'Hyarmicentric' stories are in green
'Neither/Avariicentric/Undetermined' stories are in grey

What's bubbling inside? The tale of the very beginning of Delarun, before Alrek shows up as the First Orphan. Serves as a linking piece between the unwritten novel 'The Accursed' and the 'Delarun' novel, so I probably won't write it until after 'The Accursed' is complete.

Who's it cooking for? Readers of 'Delarun.'
How long has it been brewing? In its most fleshed-out form, only since 2010.

Who's it cooking for? Readers of my five Geren novels.
How long has it been brewing? Not long, only since I made the 'Safe' illustration for my single page calendar at the end of 2012. I've been trying to figure out the story behind the image ever since.
Where is this pot? Year 238 AK and earlier on the timeline.
Does this pot have a name? Yes, 'The Rescues of Hurrem.'
What's bubbling inside? The story of Historian Hurrem and his rescues by t'DoL in the human nations.

Who's it cooking for? Readers of my Geren books who want more of his human friends.
How long has it been brewing? Some bits go back to 1998, I'm guessing, all by 2001 at latest. Part has been written in the form of 'Saltwater.'
