This first is a slab of solid lapis lazuli. That is Geren's stone in my books, which I associate with him. When I saw this on eBay, I was smitten, as it was the most beautiful piece of lapis I'd ever seen...all that detail, makes me feel like I can imagine it being formed. And such color! My photos don't show how deep and intense that blue is. It was my first experience buying something from India and dealing with the different purchasing rules over there (no PayPal for one), but it was worth it!
And another shot of it in my hand to show just how big it is. About 1.5 inches thick/3.8 cm thick, and quite heavy.
The second is a silver wire-wrapped pendant by the supremely talented Jennifer Miller (who, alas, has stopped making jewelry for now due to the insane rise in silver prices). My photo does not capture the delicious blue-violet shade of the schiller in this stone. What I think of (and doubtless t'DoL as well) as 'Geren blue' (though I expect my mom will call it purple!). Well, labradorite is t'DoL's stone in my books, seeming dull and grey from certain angles, then flashing vivid fire. Both sides of the stone are actually quite lovely.
More celebratory goodies coming, but it might be a while. =)
