29 Days of Writing: Day 5

5. By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about "youngest" and "oldest" in terms of when you created them?

My brain is not letting this be a simple question! For now, my 'oldest' character is Hu-Harek, who dies at the age of 1066...technically 1065, but I won't start that essay. Whenever I get to the Geren sequels, that will no longer be the case, but that could be 5 or more years off, for all I know. As for youngest...ouch! That depends upon what one means by 'character.' If it's 'anyone who shows up in a story' then Renna's daughter, unborn in Geren book 3, and then recently-born when Geren encounters her in book 4, will probably take the title. If it's viewpoint character, then I think 7-year-old Hovenn of 'Wildfire' takes the prize there. But then there's the Geren book 5 prologue and the (as yet unwritten) Geren book 5 epilogue that just makes this question far too difficult for me...

Second half of the question is a whole lot easier. Oldest character in my story-world in terms of being around in my head the longest: t'DoL. Youngest is currently Tarlah, who makes an appearance in 'Delarun' section 5, and whom I hope to write more about soon in 'The Courage of Tarlah.' Though even that seems inaccurate, since I have some small bit-part characters who just showed up in my 'Tilnon' writing last night, but I doubt I'll write about them more in the future, or explore their pasts...so I'm not counting them.
