Dashing December
Goodness, Christmas came and went far too fast, and I was too busy to let it soak in and enjoy it as much as I'd like, though of course December is always too busy and rushed since I left the good days of 'Christmas Break' behind me when I graduated college. Oh well, at least I have a few things for my list, and very pleased with them too.

Dec 2 - Started writing 'TFE' (Shado-novel)
Dec 15 - Eighth apheresis donation of 2012
Dec 15 - Finally finished Poser Shado figure
Dec 24 - Finished 'Safest Orphan' t-shirt version
Dec 25 - Finished 'Safest Orphan' calendar version

As for January...heh heh... It's so fitting The Hobbit came out, because it brought to mind that expression I learned in reading it as a child. 'Out of the frying pan and into the fire.' So, October through mid-December was the frying pan with my job, and January through sometime in March it is time to burn alive. There's that quote from Star Trek: Generations I loved so much on finals week as a college student: "Time is the fire in which we burn." That sums up the next couple months quite aptly.

Which is to say, if I can come up with anything at all for these lists in the next 2-3 months, I shall have to consider it a triumph, despite all my impatient frustration to get through so much more.

60+ hour workweeks, here I come! =P

Current Mood: crushedsix days of crippling back pain...

Happy New Year! Hope you a wonderful Christmas.

So, what did you think of The Hobbit?

Thanks! I hope you did too. =)

I can't say I much liked their take on Radagast and a few other nuances, but overall I quite enjoyed it. (Enough to see it three times already, anyway!)

Same here -- was surprised to see Radagast there, at all (then again, it's been awhile since I read the book, but if Radagast did feature in The Hobbit, it can't have been that significant if I don't recall...I think). I`m still a little concerned as to how this is going to stretch into three, 3-hour long films...

Nah, Radagast just gets mentioned in The Hobbit (and LoTR) but he never actually takes the stage. But they're taking stuff from the LoTR appendices, which is where scenes like Thorin gaining his nickname in that battle with Azog, and Saruman trying to stonewall any move against the Necromancer come from.

And yes. I can see two films with the extra background stuff they're putting in, but three seems like overkill to me. Unless film three is strictly between The Hobbit and LoTR on the timeline...

Ohh, that's where all this was coming from? I have to say, I never paid much attention to the appendices (skimmed them), so I was confused as to where they were getting all the "extra stuffing."

It's been quite a while since I last read them myself, but that's what I've heard, and I do vaguely remember bits of it.
